The build-up of scale, corrosion, algae, sludge, bacteria or slime significantly lowers the operating efficiency of any system by diminishing heat transfer. Often, the problem may be evident in increasing energy and repair bills or in the troublesome and costly scale that is visible in a cooling tower. With cleaner water from Commercial Water SolutionZ and the resulting improved heat transfer, operating costs are reduced due to lower energy, maintenance and staff expense.

CWZ now offers a full range of proprietary formulations that target virtually any water problem in closed and open loops and address the cause of the inefficient heat transfer. When water problems demand custom formulations, CWZ chemists adjust the formulations to ensure success. "In total, we have nearly 30 formulations. But that's just our starting point. One recent example includes the use of the CWZ Series 2000 products for a 42-story building in Chicago. For that customer, the chilled closed loop and the open loop of the cooling tower were both cleaned with the proper CWZ formulations. The result enabled the use of only one chiller and condenser, not the two that the building historically uses. This resulted in reduced electricity consumption by 50% during the high-demand, high-cost summer months as well as a significant cost reduction on water consumption.

Formulations for cooling towers include a polymer-phosphonate corrosion inhibitor that also prevents scale, a broad spectrum micro biocide to prevent algae and bacteria and a quaternary-type (no odor), low-foaming algaecide.
