SPEX CertiPrep Introduces a New Certified Reference Material Kit for Analyzing Extractable Metals from Plastic Toys
Everyday unsuspecting parents purchase plastic baby toys that contain toxic chemicals that can harm your babies. SPEX CertiPrep has created standards to analyze these toxins so parents will no longer have to worry about the safety of their children's toys.
METUCHEN, NJ, April 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- ASTM F963-07- Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety is a voluntary U.S. standard applicable to toys distributed in the U.S and employs test procedures for analyzing lead and other extractable metals in plastic toys. The reference material can be used at 10 or 100 fold dilution to accommodate your needs.
The standards are mainly to be used with ICP instruments. However they can be used with an ICP-MS provided they are diluted enough.
SPEX CertiPrep is selling two kits of standards. The first kit, EMPT-1, consists of two separate 125mL bottles, EMPT-1A and EMPT-1B. EMPT-1A consists of Pb, As, Cd, Cr, Se, and Sb. EMPT-1B consists of Ba and Hg. The second kit, EMPT-1-SET, is comprised of EMPT-1 and INT-EM1. INT-EM1 is an Interference check standard consisting of Al, Ca, Fe, Mg, Pb, As, Cd, Cr, Se, and Sb.
